President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Samuel Ocheho is calling on corporate bodies to assist the federation in funding the Junior male national handball team to attend the World Junior Handball Championship holding in Barcelona.
National Daily learnt that Nigeria qualified for the championship after coming behind Egypt and Tunisia at the Africa Junior Nation Cup held in Morocco later year.
The last time Nigeria played in the world championship was thirty four years ago and the HFN President feels it will be a great opportunity for the team to participate in the championship.
“The federation is doing everything possible to make sure the boys participate in the Junior World Handball Championship”. Ocheho said
“The boys are in high spirited and are looking forward to the competition. We will be going to Georgia for the IHF Emerging Nations Tournament which is also going to be used as a training tour for the world chanpionship as we have about ten boys in the Georgia contingent that are also World Cup bound.
“So I therefore call on corporate organizations and other sponsors to please come to our aid as funding may hinder us from attending these competition”.
The World Junior Handball Championship, which holds every two years, will be held in Barcelona Spain from the 25th to the 28th of July 2019.
Nigeria is drawn alongside France, Egypt, Sweden, Korea and Austrailia for the U21 World Championship in the Catalan city of Barcelona, Spain
