Following massive collaborations with the likes of Burna Boy and Davido, Zlatan has become one of the biggest breakout stars of the past year. It’s this newfound fame that he is grateful for on his latest single “This Year”, which is accompanied by a fitting music video.
For “This Year”, Zlatan enlists frequent collaborator, Rexxie, and the gifted beatsmith delivers a bouncy street tune, upon which the indigenous rapper soars. On the track, Zlatan professes that he will level up in all aspects of his life, from more celebrations to new houses.
As for the accompanying music video, which was directed by Clarence Peters, we see Zlatan decked out in his finest agbada, conducting a private praise and worship session in the woods. He then takes centre stage as the performer at a rather bubbling owambe.
Amidst shots of Zlatan rocking out, the video depicts everyday Nigerians in their Sunday best, making their way to a function via public transport. Like Zlatan, the clip shows them praying for their circumstances to improve — a sentiment a lot of Nigerians can relate to.
