Ariyo-Dare Atoye, a human rights advocate and the executive director of the Adopt A Goal Initiative, has asked Nigerians to pray for him while he battles an undisclosed illness in an Abuja hospital.
The activist, whose health has been declining for a few weeks, requested prayers from Nigerians in a brief text message he sent to SaharaReporters from his hospital bed.
The message is as follows: “Ariyo-Dare Atoye, an activist, is in serious condition. I’m struggling, but I have Jesus. Please pray for me.”
Atoye is a frontline human rights crusader who has stood against oppression, injustice and any force and action that seeks to undermine civic and media space.
The activist played a major role in the passage and signing of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022 into law through a coalition called Civil Society Partners on Electoral Reform (CiSPER).
He led several protests against the initial delay in the passage of the bill.
