Former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reacted to the controversy surrounding the presence of clerics at the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
There had been speculations that the clerics who attended the event are fake and might have been paid by the APC leadership.
Recall that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu last week Wednesday officially unveiled the former Borno State Governor as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Some unpopular bishops and pastors were sighted at the event which took place despite outrage by CAN and other members of the Christian community in the country over the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Amaechi while reacting to the trending issue on Sunday, 24 July, said the clerics at the event may not be bishops, but they are Christians.
The former minister stated this while speaking over the weekend at an event to mark the 60th birthday of Eugene Ogu, general overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital.
Speaking on the controversy surrounding Shettima’s unveiling, the former presidential aspirant said, “Those bishops you saw (at Kashim Shettima’s unveiling ceremony), they may not be bishops, but they are Christians.”
