Set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic in 1980s Los Angeles, FX’s underrated drama, Snowfall, has had two critically acclaimed seasons, so, of course, it’s returning for a third. Yesterday, Chuck Safter, COO of FX, announced that the new season will debut July 10.
Led by the supremely talented British-Nigerian actor, Damson Idris, who plays budding kingpin, Franklin Saint, the third season of Snowfall will take place in 1984, during the very height of the crack epidemic in South Central Los Angeles.
The synopsis for the season reads:
“In the wake of the growing epidemic, budding kingpin Franklin Saint becomes a target of interest by his next-door neighbor, Sergeant Andre Wright.
Snowfall was created in 2017 by the late John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood), Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, and it currently maintains a very solid 80% rating on popular review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes.
