Last week, Naira Marley shook the internet with a video defending fraudsters. Explaining that Yahoo boys are the reason money trickles down to the average Nigerian, as well as using slavery to validate internet fraud, Naira Marley enraged the public.
After facing a lot of well-deserved backlash, Naira Marley decided to take advantage of all that negative buzz, announcing a brand new song, “Am I A Yahoo Boy”, for which he enlisted previous collaborator, Zlatan.
Produced by Rexxie, “Am I A Yahoo Boy” boasts an infectious beat with a mellow temperament. Over the stellar production work, Naira Marley subverts the controversy surrounding his statements, coming after those who took his support of Yahoo boys to mean he was one of them.
Naira and Zlatan use their verses to shame those who accuse them of being criminals simply because they’re young and successful. The pair hammer down on the fact that they made their money legitimately, decrying the public crucifixion they’ve faced.
