Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a traditional ruler’s son, Bashiru Ahmed, for his alleged involvement in the killing of one Oshin Aderibigbe during an attempt to rob the victim of his valuables in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, in a statement on Sunday, said Aderibigbe reported the attack and identified his assailants before he gave up the ghost.
He stated that operatives of the command deployed to investigate the case arrested the suspect, adding that he confessed to committing the crime with two other conspirators, who were at large.
Elkana said, “On Friday, April 26, 2019, around 11.30am, one Oshin Aderigbigbe, later identified as the spokesman for the Joint Campus Committee, National Association of Nigerian Students, Lagos, reported at the Okokomaiko Police Station with blood gushing out of his body that he was attacked by three men who dispossessed him of his handset and laptop and stabbed him with a knife. He was rushed to hospital, but eventually died.
“The leader of the hoodlums that attacked him, Bashiru Ahmed, a.k.a Kawu (21), was arrested. He confessed to have committed the crime with two of his friends. The said Ahmed, who is the son of a popular traditional ruler in Okoko, is a notorious criminal who was charged to court on several occasions by the police for sundry offences. He returned from prison six months ago and had been on the watch list of the police.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Zubairu Mu’azu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for discreet investigation. Detectives have spread their tentacles to arrest the remaining two suspects on the run.”
