A few years ago, Nollywood family comedy, Happy Fathers Day, starring Mercy Aigbe and Wale Ojo, was released. Although it wasn’t met with much acclaim, it looks like it’s becoming a franchise, as a new trailer has just been dropped for the film’s sequel, Another Father’s Day.

Growing up, we had a bunch of television shows that centered on the Nigerian family dynamic, such as Papa Ajasco, Fuji House Of Commotion, Everyday People and more. Now, it looks like this is expanding onto the big screen with this franchise.

Happy Father’s Day tells the story of the typical Nigerian family who takes its generous matriarch for granted. One day, she decides to leave the whole family in the care of the father, which leads to one disaster after another.

For the sequel, Another Father’s Day, the family seems to be going through growing pains, which lands them in the same position they found themselves in the first film. Joining Aigbe and Ojo are Cee-C (Big Brother Nigeria), Julianna Oyedele (Jenifa’s Diary) Frank Donga and others.

Another Father’s Day will be avaialble in cinemas on June 14.
