Bandits Sack Two Police Stations In Zamfara, Steal Ammunition Amid Military Operations

Bandits in Zamfara State invaded Shinkafi town, shooting sporadically and destroying two police facilities in the process.

The attackers were claimed to have hauled away weaponry from the wrecked police stations, according to the Daily Trust.

The incident’s details were vague at the time of publication since Shinkafi, like the rest of the state, is cut off from the outside world owing to a telecommunications network outage earlier this month.

However, a Sokoto-based resident verified the initial social media post about the attack on Friday morning.

According to him, the armed men arrived in town around night to perform the magrib prayer and stayed for nearly an hour.

According to the source, the attack was in response to a threat letter sent to the village earlier that day, in which two local bandit leaders, Kachalla Turji and Halilu Sububu, proclaimed a joint mission to attack Shinkafi and its surrounds.

Shinkafi is the last major town on the road that connects Zamfara and Sokoto State. At various periods in the past, bandits had raided the town.

Due to the telecom outage, the Zamfara State police spokesperson could not be reached, and the Nigeria Police Force’s spokesman, CP Frank Mba, stated he had no knowledge about the attack.
