The Federal Government plans to challenge an Oyo State High Court decision that granted the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Department of State Service N20 billion in damages.
Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney-General of the Federation, revealed the Federal Government’s determination to appeal the ruling in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday.
Sunday Adeyemo, a self-described Yoruba Nation activist, filed the lawsuit, which touches on fundamental human rights.
The court in Ibadan awarded the AGF and the DSS N20 billion in damages for the purported invasion of Adeyemo’s home, also known as Sunday Igboho, on July 1 this year in the Soka area of the Oyo State capital.
Malami stated that preparations were already being taken to begin the appeals procedure.
