The running mate to the All Progressives Grand Alliance Governorship Candidate in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election, Professor Lilian Oroegbu, has denied reports of her withdrawal from the race.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the names of Chukwuma Umeoji and Oroegbu as Governorship and deputy governorship candidates of APGA.
The issue became a matter of litigation and the two factions in the party are currently in different courts at the moment.
There have been rumours that Oroegbu had abandoned her principal but she declared in a statement on Tuesday that she had no plans to withdraw or step down from the race.
Her statement is titled, ‘APGA Deputy Governorship Candidate Oroegbu pledges unwavering support to APGA candidate, says I am committed to my joint ticket with Umeoji’.
She said, “I trust the process that made INEC to initially publish my name and believes my name will eventually be published when the Court of Appeal affirms the Owerri High Court judgment that declared Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji as the validly nominated candidate of the Party.”
The Professor said those who initiated the story had changed their story when the time for their imaginary press conference did not hold.
She said, “They will also change their story further now that that the time in their story for Prof Lilian Oroegbu to purportedly step down has passed.”
Oroegbu assured all APGA faithful that she is committed to the Umeoji-Oroegbu joint ticket.
She pledged her unwavering support to Umeoji who she prayed, would be the Anambra State Governor and that she would be the deputy so as to restore and bring prosperity to Anambra State.
