Bandits consolidate siege in Zamfara, kidnap Councilor’s Wife, breast feeding baby

Bandits have continued to hold sway in Zamfara State with minimal of resistance from security operatives, thereby, consolidating on placing the state under siege. A gang of bandits on Wednesday kidnapped the wife of a former councilor, a nursing mother, Hassana Saudaki, including her eight-month-old baby.

The husband of the kidnap victim, Babangida Damba, identified as former councilor of Tudun-Wada Gusau ward, was said to have narrated that the bandits struck on Wednesday, invaded the residence at the Government Residential Quarter in Damba, shooting at him and his 26-year-old wife. Damba was said to have revealed that the gang of bandits comprised about four commenced attack at about 12.00am, the early hours of Wednesday shooting sporadically for over one hour, before escaping with his wife and son, who is still going through breast feeding.

The former council had decried that he made a distress call to the Nigeria police for urgent intervention to prevent the kidnap but the police, he said, arrive the residence at about 3.00am when the operation had been completed and the bandits escaped with his wife and son.

The victim’s husband disclosed that he picked 17 used ammunition and one live ammunition the bandits fired at the entrance door to the house to force their way into the sitting room.
