We Finally Have A Release Date For Rihanna & Childish Gambino's 'Guava Island'

A few months ago, news broke that British-Nigerian actor, Nonso Anozie — one of the most underrated Hollywood performers of Nigerian descent — will be starring alongside Grammy-winning singers, Rihanna and Donald Glover in the upcoming film, Guava Island.

Now, we’ve finally gotten a possible release date for the highly anticipated film, and it’s coming even sooner than we’d initially expected.

While there hasn’t been any information divulged about the film since the news broke, an ad recently popped up on Spotify teasing the release date. According to the ad, the film will be dropping on April 13, which is the day Childish Gambino headlines Coachella.

Shot in Cuba and directed by Hiro Murai (Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”), the clip reveals that Rihanna will be playing Donald Glover’s love interest; and joining Anozie as the movie’s other non-musically inclined co-star is Black Panther star, Letitia Wright.

While no official release date or proper plot synopsis has actually been revealed for Guava Island, fans are wondering whether the supposed film is actually a visual album. Well, we’re ready for whatever we get this weekend, and given the team behind it, we’re sure it will be amazing.
