The £4.2 million looted by a former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, which the Federal Government recently repatriated from the United Kingdom, has been restored to the state, according to the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris.

Idris revealed this in Abuja on Tuesday when he testified before the House of Representatives’ Ad hoc Committee on Assessment and Status of All Recovered Loots Movable and Immovable Assets by Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria for Effective Efficient Management and Utilisation from 2002 to 2020.

The Accountant-General, who was interrogated for nearly an hour by the committee, maintained that funds plundered from a state’s treasury are always restored to the state. States can sue the federal government to recoup such payments, he added.
