The Accident Investigation Bureau has said that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the crashed aircraft that led to the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru have been recovered.
Recall that General Attahiru together with seven other military officers died in an air crash on Friday while on their way to an official trip in Kaduna.
Also, four members of the crew who were aboard the aircraft lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Following the development, AIB’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Tunji Oketunbi made this known in a statement released, saying the black box of the crashed flight has been recovered.
He also revealed that the Nigerian Air Force has mandated the agency to lead the investigation into what led to the crash of the military aircraft.
“The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the accidented Beechcraft 350 aircraft have been recovered and investigation has commenced.
“Investigators will download and analyse vital information contained in the recorders at the AIB-N’s world class Flight Safety Laboratory, in Abuja.
“The mandate given to AIB-N is based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two agencies on July 1, 2020 covering areas of mutual assistance,” he said.
