Senator Kabiru Marafa, who represents Zamfara Central, has asked God to forgive the state Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, for his alleged lies and actions that have put the people of the state to shame.
Marafa, who is chairman of Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), said Yari offended God by insisting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted party primaries in the State.
He stated this when he fielded questions from State House correspondents at the weekend, saying that Yari erred by going to court to lie that there were primary elections of the APC in Zamfara.
He commended the Court of Appeal ruling, which on March 25, nullified the primary elections supposedly conducted by the Yari’s faction of the APC in the state.
“It is a promise that God will never help injustice against justice. So, I have always believed that this God we serve will definitely serve justice at the end of the day, because God gives peace at the end, not the beginning.
“I’m sure most of you here are being paid at the end of the month, not at the beginning of the month. So, at the end of the whole of this thing, truth will prevail, undoubtedly. No fear about that. The truth is there were no primaries in the state, the world knows, Allah knows, the angel knows, everybody knows.
“So, even if somebody tries to paint it somehow, somebody will come, a good man will come and restore back the original paint. And the original paint is white. The white is the truth, the truth is that there were no primaries, and the Court of Appeal has just done justice to that.
“And I want to use this opportunity to thank the president of the Court of Appeal for an excellent job she did. You know, we were quite apprehensive from the beginning, fearing that we might not get justice.
“But they have done justice to that case and they have made judiciary proud and the people of Nigeria proud. If that has not been done, I was afraid where we were heading to.
“I read their judgment and I was really very proud of the way it was written. That is how judgments are written, not the way the state judgment was written.”
On the matter in court with Yari’s APC faction in the state, Marafa said for a leader like him to tell lies in a state like Zamfara which practices Sharia is an anathema, adding that he deserves prayers from his followers to avert God anger.
“I pray, may God forgive him (Yari) for what he has done, because to us, God has paid us immensely,” he said.
He said Yari and his group of APC in Zamfara still has the option of seeking redress at the Supreme Court if they are not satisfied with the appeal court judgment.
“Well, there is still one last option left. It depends on what our opponents feel. There is the Supreme Court option. If they are desirous of exploiting that, they are constitutionally, legally allowed to do so. If they are not, so be it.
In another development, Marafa has said that APC national chairman told a wicked lie by allegedly endorsing Zamfara APC faction led by Governor Yari.
Oshiomhole was said to have made the endorsement when he appeared on Channels TV’s Hard Copy programme last Friday.
But in a letter addressed to Oshiomhole during the weekend, the senator advised Oshiomhole to shun lies and stand by the truth as regards the party’s 2018 October’s botched primaries in Zamfara.
“It’s quite unfortunate and disheartening to watch the hitherto respected comrade rubbishing his hard earned name before the whole world. Oshiomhole performed creditably well during the party primaries as he led the party aright to the admiration of all, including those in the opposition parties.
“He aligned himself with the masses, against some state governors who assumed the position of the Almighty in their respective states. Why do you want to change, my Comrade?
“What Oshiomhole said (on Hard Copy) was nothing but a wicked lie that can neither stand moral nor legal scrutiny.
“Records and documentary evidences are abound everywhere that APC did not conduct primaries in Zamfara State, due to the attitude of the state governor who threatened publicly to send Oshiomhole to the graveyard if he dares him,” Marafa said.
