Last year, J. Cole announced his inaugural hip-hop festival, Dreamvile Festival, which was set to include the likes of Young Thug, Davido and SZA. Unfortunately, due to weather and safety concerns, the festival was postponed.
Well, its new date and lineup have now been announced, and although acts like Young Thug and Rich the Kid are no longer billed to perform, Davido still made the cut.
It is no surprise that Davido has stuck around on J. Cole’s bill, as this provides a great opportunity for him to capitalise on the popularity he is gaining in America — given that “Fall” continues to rise through the Billboard charts.
Beyond that, J. Cole and Davido have unreleased music together and incredible artistic rapport — which we witnessed at the Castle Lite Unlocks concert they co-headlined last April. So, where better to promote this much-anticipated track than at J. Cole’s first-ever Dreamville Festival?
Davido, who will also be performing at the Roots Picnic, seems to be a highly sought after act in the American music circuit this year, especially since his aptly-timed press run. His dream of selling out his own headline show at Madison Square Garden this year is looking within reach.
