Last week, Tay Iwar returned to our airwaves with “How”, the fourth single of his upcoming album, Gemini. We didn’t expect any more tracks before the album’s March 29 release, but to our surprise and pleasure, the rising star just dished out the incredible “Sidelines”.
“Sidelines” is a spritely bop that boasts a cheeky beat — fitting for the scornful message Tay Iwar conveys. On the track, he scolds his ex for their selfishness and dire communication skills, mocking the old fling as they wait on the sidelines for the love that he has already relinquished.
As we’ve gotten used to from this talented vocalist, “Sidelines” is infused with spirited percussion, accompanied by dynamic and unpredictable verses that sweetly tie together to power the exciting song. “Sidelines” has left us even more keen to hear the rest of the project.
