Local Government workers in Rivers State has issued a warning that a strike action would be taken by them except their owed 13-Month salary gets paid.
The workers are requesting that the salaries of more than 100 workers in Ahoada Local government area gets paid.
The warning, complaint was issued through the National Union of Local Government Employees, stating the strike was imminent as they failed to reach an agreement with the Ahoada West council boss, Hope Ikiriko.
President of the Union, Clifford Paul stated that every attempt made to come to an agreement between the council and the workers have been futile as the council are hell-bent on constraining workers salary.
“The workers has so far done the needful by reporting out plight to higher authorities. However, nothing till today has been done.
“We have 14 days as ultimatum for them to respond to our grievances”, he added.
Instead of granting our request, the Executive Chairman, Ahoada West is adopting manipulative means in evading responsibilities owed.
“The workers in all 23 LGAs have collectively agreed to embark on strike from September 21, Monday.
