Following a series of test events that will later be carried out this month, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has gave the assurance that football fans could return to the Stadium come October.
The Minister declared this, during a briefing at Downing Street on Friday. According to him, “The government is doing everything in its capacity to ensure that spectators, graces the football stadium again”.
“Latest by October, we are collectively making efforts to bring back audiences, as well as restore other business that was shut down as a result of the lock down. Together, by doing that, we will achieve the set goal of giving football fans something to cheer about once more”, he noted.
Prime Minister Johnson also stated that some events are in line to resume this month; events like the World Snooker Championship, two county cricket friendly and the Glorious Goodwood horse racing. The government ensured that they are meticulously selected to help represent range of indoor and outdoor sports.
The Sports Minister, Nigel Huddleston acknowledged that welcoming spectators back to the pitch is indeed a welcomed step, but added that it will take some periods before the venues are flooded with football fans.
Meanwhile the Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Masters revealed that the big clubs in England are willing to conduct needed experiments that will speed up the recovery process so spectators can once more be seen around football premises.
“Allowing once more football fans to be back in football stadium, will no doubt boost once more the revenues of Clubs especially the smaller ones that relies heavily on money ticket purchased by footballing fans”, he added
