The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Friday celebrated President Muhammadu Buhari, commending the president for the political courage to make June 12 Democracy Day, shifting the event from May 29 which reflects the yearly anniversary of elected president and governors inaugurated on May 29 after general elections. Essentially, May 29 was the takeoff of the contemporary democracy ion Nigeria in 1999.
Tinubu eulogized President Buhari as a man of integrity and honesty who appreciated the significance of June 12, knowing that June 12 more than any other day, best symbolizes Nigeria’s national pursuit of democracy.
Tinubu was of the belief that the June 12 election profoundly changed Nigeria.
Tinubu also commended Nigerians for their investment in democracy. He the people to sustain vigilance on the countries democracy, and be prepared to ward off politicians who may want to pull Nigeria back to the dimmer period.
