Bauchi State Deputy Governor who double as the State Chairman Task Force Committee on Covid-19 and Lassa Fever has tested positive to Covid-19 while discharging his duties.

This was contained in a press statement and copy made available to journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi, signed by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed on Media and Communication Comrade Muktar Gidado.

He said, the Deputy Governor contracted the disease while discharging his onerous responsibility as Chairman State Task Force on Covid-19.

Gidado added that, the confirmation was sequel to a test carried out on him by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) when he exhibited noticeable symptoms of the coronavirus.

“Similarly, samples of all his primary contacts have been taken by the NCDC for test and they advised remain in isolation pending on the outcome of their result”.

The statement further stated that the Deputy Governor has gone into self isolation while health workers are properly attending to him daily.
