Nigeria and Caykur Rizespor of Turkey forward, Aminu Umar has sent out words of encouragement to his compatriots, to stick to the precautionary measures put in place by government amid the Coronavirus pandemic in order to stay safe, Completesports.com reports.

“It is important that we adhere to the precautionary measures including staying indoors,” Umar told Completesports.com from Turkey.

“It is difficult, but life is more important. Only when you are alive that you talk about tomorrow.

“No doubt, not going about one’s businesses, work and other regimens could be frustrating, but life is more precious than anything.

“Even here in Turkey and other parts of the world, the Coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc, but we must observe government’s and health experts’ advice to check the spread of the disease”.

The 25-year-old former Flying Eagles striker and a member of U-23 Eagles that won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil joined Caykur Rizespor in 2018/2019 season on loan from Osmalispor, also of Turkey.

Umar arrived in Turkey in 2013 from Wikki Tourists, a Nigeria Professional Football League side, after attracting Samsunspor officials with his impressive showing and two goals during the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in Turkey.

Earlier this year, Umar underwent surgery at the Acidadem Fulya Hospital where Dr Omar Taser corrected his injured Anterior Cruciate Ligament.

Following his speedy recovery, Umar, reveals his desire to return to the Nigerian National Team setup for the now suspended 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

“At the moment, I’m feeling good. I hope to return to full fitness soonest and of course, yes, to rejoin my teammates in my club and also the Super Eagles,” Umar said.

“My rehab is going on well. My objective is to return to the pitch soonest. The 2021 AFCON and 2022 World Cup finals are two important tournaments the Super Eagles must not miss and I’m confident I would contribute my quota towards ensuring that we qualified for the two championships”.

Before the injury that forced him to go through the surgeon’s knife, Umar had scored thrice and made one assist in 18 appearances for his struggling Turkish Super Lig side, Caykur Rizespor.

Umar has been capped four times by Nigeria at senior international level, including two AFCON qualifying games and two international friendly matches.
