NPFL: Olanrewaju Savours Enyimba’s ‘Hard-Earned’ Win Over Akwa United

Yemi Olanrewaju can’t hide his excitement following Enyimba’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Akwa United.

Enyimba defeated the visitors 1-0 in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter in Aba on Wednesday.

Substitute Austin Onyemaechi, who made his debut for the Aba giants in the encounter netted the winning goal 12 minutes from time.

The result was a welcome relieve for the Abia Giants, who lost 2-0 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt last weekend.

Olanrewaju explained the importance of the victory in a chat with the club’s media after the game.

“We knew it wasn’t gonna be easy,….but the most important thing was getting the job done,” he declared.

Enyimba moved to third position on the log following the win.

The People’s Elephant will host Katsina United in their next NPFL fixture.
