It was not the best of debuts for Michael Olise in the colours of the French senior men’s team, as they lost 3-1 at home to Italy in League A, Group A of the UEFA Nations League on Friday night.
Olise was named in the starting line-up by head coach Didier Deschamps for his senior debut.
The Bayern Munich new signing was later replaced by Ousmane Dembele in the 58th minute.
Bradley Barcola gave France the perfect start as he netted seconds into the game.
In the 30th minute Italy equalised thanks to Federico Dimarco while Davide Frattesi made it 2-1 on 51 minutes.
Giacomo Raspadori added the third goal to seal a remarkable comeback win for Luciano Spalletti’s men.
Other teams in the group are Israel and Belgium.
Olise was part of Thierry Henry’s side that reached the final in the football event of the Paris Olympic games, where they lost 5-3 to Spain.
