Atlético Madrid defeated last season’s finalist Inter Milan to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
In the second leg on Wednesday in Spain, Atlético beat Inter 2-1 to bring the score to 2-2 aggregate.
The game was forced into penalty shootout which saw Atlético triumph 3-2.
In the other round of 16 clash, Borussia Dortmund beat PSV 2-0 to go through 3-1 on aggregate.
Atlético and Dortmund have now joined Manchester City, PSG, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.
The draw for the quarter-finals will be held on Friday, 15 March 2024,
The first legs will be played on 9 and 10 April, and the second legs will be played on 16 and 17 April 2024.
