Victor Osimhen has expressed optimism on the ability of the Super Eagles to win the title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles last conquered the continent in South Africa in 2013.

The three-time champions were eliminated in the Round of 16 two years ago by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

Osimhen however believed the Super Eagles have enough quality to go all the way this time around.

“The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament,” the 25-year-old declared at a dinner organised to celebrate his coronation as Africa’s best player at the team’s training base in Abu Dhabi on Friday night.

“I believe in this group, we have bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed and we are going to do so well.”

Osimhen was top scorer in the qualifiers with 10 goals.

The Super Eagles will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.

Jose Peseiro’s side will face the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea in their opening fixture at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Sunday, January 14.
