Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe has explained how the Magpies managed to overcome Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash at St. James’ Park.
After a goalless first half, Newcastle struck twice thanks to goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson.
Newcastle usurp United in third position and are on 50 points in the league table.
The defeat saw the Red Devils also on 50 points, drop to fourth place.
Speaking to Sky Sports as quoted by talkSPORT Howe praised his players for stepping up in the second half.
“We’ve had the moments where we haven’t scored the goals we maybe should have,” Howe said
“The first half was another example of that, where we were frustrated not to lead. We needed patience and we felt if we performed the same way in the second half the goal would come, and it did.”
