Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are interested in signing Taiwo Awoniyi on a permanent deal from Liverpool this summer, reports Completesports.com.

Celtic are hoping to sign the Nigeria forward if Odsonne Edouard leaves the club this summer.

According to the Daily Star, The Hoops believes that Awoniyi would be valued at £9million, despite having never played a game for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Bundesliga club FSV Mainz.

He previously had loan spells with Gent and Royal Excel Mouscron in Belgium, and Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen respectively.

The English newspaper believes Awoniyi would only be brought in if Edouard was to leave considering he’s only being looked at as a potential replacement.
