Oghenekaro Etebo is optimistic of being fit enough to make a return to the Stoke City starting line-up this weekend, he insists he will air on the side of caution if he doesn’t feel one hundred percent.
The Nigeria international capped off a hugely impressive performance against Nottingham Forest earlier this month with his first goal for the Club.
However, he was forced to withdraw from the action late on after suffering a groin strain – an injury which has side-lined him for each of the last two outings against Queens Park Rangers and Derby County.
“I am feeling good and have had a good rehabilitation period,”Etebo told pottersmag ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Reading.
“I have worked a lot with the medical team so let’s see how it goes over the next few days leading into the game at the weekend.
“I don’t want to rush because the truth is that we have nine games still to go, and it would be foolish to try and get back for the sake of one game and then end up missing five, six or even more matches down the line.
“Of course, every single game is important and I would love to be available for all of the remaining fixtures.”
“But if I have to miss one more to enable me to be in full health for the final matches then I am prepared to do that.”
He added: “Like I said, I have had a good rehab though, and touch wood I will be ok for the Reading game at the weekend.”
The all-action midfielder has made 25 appearances in the league and scored a goal for Stoke City thus far this season.
