At least, two persons have been killed in a renewed cult clash between Iceland and Debam groups in Etim Ekpo local government of Akwa Ibom State.
It’s gathered that the incident which sacked the Udianga Enem community, occured on Monday night through to Tuesday morning.
It was learnt that the village head of the community, Chief Mendie Udoekoriko abandoned his throne while running for his life.
According to a source, the Iceland cult group invaded the Udianga Enem community to retrieve items which were allegedly seized by rival cult group, Debam, in the nearby community of Obong Ntak.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident to reporters on Wednesday, said, “full scale investigation will begin as soon as the Etim Ekpo Area Command gives details.”
The PPRO warned hoodlums against further violence in the state, stressing that,“no one should cash in on the peaceful nature of the state to perpetrate evil.”
