Just last week, Chelsea‘s Tammy Abraham hinted that he could still play for Nigeria in the future. On Saturday, he gave us even more reasons to want him on the Super Eagles team, as he became the third-youngest player to score twice in a Premier League game for Chelsea.
Abraham scored the goals in Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Norwich City at the age of 21 years and 326 days old. Given that Eddie Newton remains the youngest Nigeria-born player to achieve this feat (at the age of 20 years and 358 days), Abraham takes the number two spot.
Abraham was sent on loan to three different clubs for four years after joining the Chelsea senior team in 2016. Since he was hardly able to settle into the team until his return this year, it’s not surprising that the two goals are actually his first and second goals for Chelsea.
So far, the rising star has shown that he’s in great form this season — if we overlook the penalty he missed in the Super Cup a few days ago. So, we fully expect to see a lot more goals from him and, maybe, see him contending for the top-scorer award this season.
