Last Wednesday, Arsenal‘s under-23 team played a pre-season friendly against Barnet FC. The game ended 3-2 in favour of the Gunners, but what got everyone talking was how they nabbed that victory. All three goals were scored by one player, Folarin Balogun, in a span of six minutes.

First, Balogun scored a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. Two minutes after, he unleashed his control skills and curled the ball into the net once again. Then, to crown it all, he found the back of the net in the 18th minute – all three goals coming in the first half of the game.
Although he couldn’t get more goals in the second half, despite his efforts, the hat-trick alone has got Arsenal fans talking about the 18-year-old. The Nigeria-born striker is now being compared to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. In fact, Balogun says the Gabonese star is his role model.
Well, his role model is certainly a fan of his. In March, Arsenal Academy tweeted a feature on Balogun, and Aubameyang replied, saying the teenager is “fire”. And, with 22 goals in 23 appearances last season, there’s no doubt that Balogun is truly a star in the making.
A six-minute hat-trick for Arsenal against Barnet tonight.
