Last year, Henry Onyekuru joined Galatasaray on loan from Everton, and he ended up establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Turkish Süper Lig. Now, one year after that move, we’re getting reports that he’s set to join Bayern Munich on another loan deal.
With Bayern about to let go of two of their biggest players, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, the club is in need of at least one winger. Apparently, they took notice of Onyekuru and, according to Bavarian Football Works, they’ve reached an agreement with Everton to bring the Nigerian on.
No matter how much we hate it when our faves go on loan to another club, we can’t deny that these moves are essential. We saw the positive effect Onyekuru’s one-season stay with Galatasaray had on his career, so we are looking forward to the career bump this new move will afford him.
It’s pretty impressive that he even appeared on the radar of a club as big as Bayern, so while we wait for the official announcement, we will also be hoping that he doesn’t end up becoming a benchwarmer there — losing the great form he built during his time at Galatasaray.
