The Super Falcons can be ruthless against their opponents when they want to be. They’re currently dominating the West African Football Union (WAFU) Women’s Cup in Abidjan, but the dominance reached new heights on Saturday when they thrashed Niger 15-0.

The win is now the biggest ever recorded by the team, surpassing their 9-0 win over Sierra Leone 25 years ago.

You might ask if the Niger players were asleep on the pitch, but they surprisingly weren’t. In fact, like other teams, they did their best to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament, but there’s really nothing you can do when you’re nine goals down in just the first half.

After the ‘Woman of the Match’ winner, Cynthia Aku scored the first goal nine minutes into the game, the floodgates were opened. While we feel a little bad that the Nigeriens had to go down like that, we’re excited that Nigeria made it into the semi-finals in such grand style.
