Although we have some reservations regarding the commitment of a bunch of African players to their national teams — not that we really blame them, all things considered — there’s no doubt that they continue to flourish in their respective clubs abroad.
Just this weekend, it was revealed that three players from the continent have scored 20 or more goals in the Premier League this season, and this is the first time this is happening.
Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mané are the players who accomplished this feat. We started out this season with hopes that Salah would win the Golden Boot for the second time, but Aubameyang and Mané seem to be giving him a run for his money.
Now, while Salah occupies the number one spot as this season’s current top scorer with 22 goals, Aubameyang and Mané brag of 20 goals each — both currently sharing the number two spot with Man City‘s Sergio Agüero.
Well, there are just six days until this season wraps up, and it doesn’t matter who wins the Golden Boot as long as it goes to any of these impressive African players, because all three of them have had thoroughly impressive outings in the league this season.
