COVID-19: See African Countries Worst-Hit By Coronavirus As Africa’s Death Toll Hits 608

The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa on Friday gave an update on the coronavirus pandemic in Africa.

WHO said that there are 11,900 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the continent with 608 deaths.

The update was issued on its official Twitter account @WHOAFRO on Friday morning.

South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported cases.

South Africa has 1,934 cases and 18 deaths, Algeria has 1,666 cases with 235 deaths, while Egypt has 1560 confirmed cases with 103 deaths.

WHO added that Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria has 288 cases and 7 deaths.

The countries with the lowest confirmed cases are South Sudan and Burundi, which have reported only three cases each.

“COVID-19 cases in Africa rise to over 11,900 – with 1,586 recoveries & 608 deaths reported,” WHO tweeted.
