“On the 22nd of March 2020, three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, twenty-six (26) cases have been confirmed, two cases have been discharged and there has been no death from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Three new cases are in Lagos State, while another case was reported in Oyo state. The three new cases in Lagos are being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba,” the NCDC said.

Also reacting, the Oyo State government on Sunday morning announced that it has recorded its first case of the dreaded COVID-19 disease, otherwise known as Coronavirus.

The state Governor, Seyi Makinde, made the confirmation in a statement on Sunday morning.

The statement read, “The COVID-19 confirmation test for the suspected case at Bodija has come back positive. The result was released at 17:35pm of March 21, 2020.

“A follow-up on the Ekiti COVID-19 case revealed that the deceased was picked up directly from Lagos Airport to a private apartment in Ona Ara Local Government Area.

“The health authorities have contacted the family concerned and the community has been alerted for intensified contact tracing and self-isolation of identified close contacts. The information given that he stayed in some hotels in Ibadan has been found to be false.
