The return of suicide bombers in the north may be increasing the pressures on President Muhammadu Buhari over the rising insecurity in the country.
Less than 12 hours President Buhari held meetings with service chiefs on Thursday in Abuja on the security crisis in Nigeria, two female suicide bombers struck in Borno State hours after the meeting same Thursday.
The Borno State Police Command acknowledged the female suicide bombers hastily detonated the bombs, killing themselves and two other persons; five other persons were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries. The two female suicide bombers were said to have been confirmed dead with their two victims.
The Borno State Police Command disclosed that the suicide bomb attack occurred Thursday night at Muna Galti in Jere Local Government Area, Borno State.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, DSP Edet Okon, in a statement indicated that two female suicide bombers who attempted to infiltrate a crowd, on sighting security operatives, hurriedly detonated their improvised explosive devices, killing themselves and two other people.
The PPRO stated that normalcy has since been restored in the area.
The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, had told the public not to panic but to go about their lawful businesses without fear or apprehension. He assured residents of adequate security in the area.
