Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki has returned to his home in Abuja after spending over four years in detention of the Department of State Services (DSS).
KanyiDaily had reported that Dasuki was released on Tuesday, alongside the convener of RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore, following the directives of the Federal Government.
We gathered that Dansuki arrived at his Abuja residence by 9pm Tuesday night, and took some minutes to observed some moments of privacy.
“The first thing he did was to pray. He went into a private mode and was there for several minutes. After that, he embraced every one in the house”, a source told Daily Post.
After that, he was surrounded by his wife, children, relatives and some close associates.
The source said the atmosphere was very emotional as many cried at the sight of the retired colonel.
“Dasuki remains strong; you know how military men are. He was actually the one comforting others, telling them to stop crying”, the source added.
Mr Dasuki, a retired Nigerian Army colonel, was Nigeria’s national security adviser until May 2015. He was arrested a few months after leaving office on allegations of corruption and illegal arms possession.
He denied any wrongdoing, and the Federal High Court in Abuja where he was arraigned granted him bail more than once, but the DSS failed to release him.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja in July 2019 declared that the continued detention of Dasuki by the DSS was illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.
