Explosive Ordnance Disposal of the Nigeria Police Force says bombs were planted in 10 locations during the Nigerian civil war, Punch Metro reports.

It, however, added that it had recovered them, saying the locations were in Imo, Anambra and Delta states.

The Commissioner of Police, EOD Command, Maikudi Sheu, who said the evacuation of the bombs was done within five months, spoke during the third quarterly conference of the unit held in its headquarters in Ikeja.

Sheu said most of the explosives were discovered at construction sites by builders who alerted the police, noting that the materials were safely diffused.

The police chief urged members of the public to report at the nearest police station anytime they found suspicious objects, assuring them that his men would respond promptly.

He said, “There are some explosives that were left after the civil war in the South East. A lot of builders making foundations discovered those explosives and quickly alerted the police. We had to move in quickly to see how we can secure those things and demobilise them without any injury to members of the public.

“We have recorded such in Owerri (Imo State), Anambra and even Delta State. This is why we have decided to continue to upgrade our equipment and ensure that our men are on top of their game. About ten incidents were recorded.”
