Mikel joins Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor, after the midfieder agreed a two-year contract with the Turkish side with an option to extend for another year.

Mikel who is on duty with Nigeria at the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.but the Turkish club made the announcement earlier on Monday.

“A 2 + 1 year agreement was signed with the free captain of the Nigerian National Team, John Mikel Obi, with one-year option to transfer to our club,” a club statement stated on their website.

The former Chelsea and Tiajin Teda midfielder has been without a club since parting ways with English Championship side, Middlesbrough
