World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has parted ways with his fitness coach Umberto Ferrara and physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi ahead of his opening game against Mackenzie McDonald at the 2024 US Open, set for Tuesday, August 27.
This decision follows a recent controversy involving failed drug tests.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) revealed on Tuesday that Sinner had tested positive for clostebol, an anabolic steroid, in March.
However, the ITIA concluded that Sinner was not at fault. The banned substance had entered his system through a product used by a member of his team for treating a minor injury.
Despite these issues, Sinner continued his successful run on the ATP Tour, winning titles in Halle and Cincinnati after challenging a provisional suspension.
In a statement during his pre-tournament press conference, Sinner expressed his appreciation for his former team’s contributions but noted his desire for a fresh start: “Ferrara and Naldi have been a huge part of my career. We worked together for two years and achieved a lot of success. Now, after these challenges, I feel I need a clean slate to focus on moving forward.”
Sinner’s first match at the US Open will see him face off against McDonald as he aims to continue his strong performance on the court.
