Nigeria’s boxing star, Adam Olaore, suffered defeat after Kazakhstan’s Aibek Oralbay convincingly secured a 5-0 victory in the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s 92 kg heavyweight boxing event, Completesports.com reports.
Adam, a medal hopeful aiming to end Nigeria’s 28-year wait for an Olympic medal in boxing, lost all five rounds of the bout (26-30, 26-30, 26-30, 26-30, and 26-30).

Kazakhstan’s Oralbay became a thorn in Olaore’s flesh as he took control of the bout from start to finish, leaving the Nigerian in a difficult situation.
Olaore’s defeat marks the end of Nigeria’s medal hopes in the boxing event, as an injury sidelined Dolapo and Cynthia Ogunsemilore was suspended from the event due to a doping violation.
Olaore won the 2018 Youth Olympic gold medal and silver medals at the 2018 Youth World Championships, and he was crowned the Asian champion in 2022.
Nigeria last won a medal in boxing at the Olympics in Atlanta 1996, with Duncan Dokiwari winning bronze in the super heavyweight category.
