Enugu Rangers suffered their first defeat in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after going down to a 2-1 defeat to Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in their matchday -three encounter in Sousse on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.
The Flying Antelopes got off to a perfect start when Bright Silas put them ahead in the 14th minute after he was teed up by former Super Eagles striker, Micheal Uchebo.
The goal was Silas’ fifth in the competition and it put him one behind teammate Godwin Aguda.
The hosts fought back and got a deserved equaliser through Iheb Msakni 10 minutes before the break.
Sadam Ben Aziza scored the winning goal for Etoile du Sahel late in the game, handing them their first win of the group stage.
Rangers drop to second position in the table following the loss. The Enugu club have four points from three games.
Tunisia’ s CS Sfaxien who held Burkina Faso’s Salitas to a 0-0 draw in the group’s other game also Sunday top the table with five points.
Etoile occupy third position with four points, while Salitas sit in last position with two points.
Gbenga Ogunbote’s men will host Etoile du Sahel in their next game in the competition next week Sunday.
