The detained leader of the proscribed separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has lost in court.
This is as the Federal High Court in Abuja has denied the latest bail plea presented by Kanu.
Justice Binta Nyako, delivering the verdict on Tuesday, March 19, stated that since the court had previously rejected a bail request from Kanu, it could not entertain the fresh application.
According to Justice Nyako, Kanu’s only recourse is to challenge the earlier ruling of the court that denied him bail.
Kanu faces trial on seven charges related to treasonable felony and terrorism. The court proceedings resumed after the Supreme Court’s December 15, 2023 judgment overturned a prior ruling by the Court of Appeal, which had released Kanu.
