Former governor of Abia State, and senator representing Abia North in the upper legislative chamber, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has noted that the South East should not expect anything from the APC-led administration for not voting massively for the party during the 2019 elections.
Speaking at his Igbere country home, on Saturday, Kalu berated the South-East for not voting for APC in the 2019 election and according to him, Ndigbo must be part of the decision-making process in Nigeria and should not leave their fate in the hands of other Nigerians. He said:
“Our people did not support APC. We did not vote for the president and that is what we are paying for.
“We are not entitled to anything when we did not vote for APC so we cannot ask for the Senate President or Deputy President.
“Next time, we shouldn’t put all our eggs in one basket; we should emulate the South West which voted 60/40.
“In the Nigerian political parlance, it is said that he who works, should eat, but I’m not saying the South East should be left out entirely in the sharing of political offices, but we should learn more how to play national politics.”
Kalu also revealed the real reason he stepped down for Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, at the last minute.
According to him, he stepped down from the race of Senate President out of respect for the party’s zoning arrangement.
