Four days left until the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Egypt. While the participating countries are warming up for what will be the first AFCON to feature 24 teams, CAF has just named seven African legends as ambassadors, and the list includes our very own Kanu Nwankwo.

Two-time winner of the ‘African Footballer of the Year’ and the ‘BBC African Footballer of the Year’ awards, Nwankwo is arguably the most decorated player out of Nigeria. His international career saw him feature in six AFCON editions between 2000 and 2010.

Although he didn’t get to win the continental title with the Super Eagles, his classy appearance at the 1996 Olympics remains unforgettable. The 42-year-old, now a member of the Super Eagles technical team, was appointed alongside other legends like Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Touré and Didier Drogba.
