In the past couple of weeks, Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire teamed up with Nigerian stars, Ice Prince, Mr Eazi and Runtown for three different jams. Now, he’s come through with ABENG — an 11-track project that houses these singles, as well as even more impressive features.
ABENG opens with the most recent singles off the tape, “Call Me”, “Round of Applause” and “No Negative Vibes”, before bringing in a totally fresh song: “Outside” — one of the standout tracks off the project — featuring Trinidadian star, Nailah Blackman and Adekunle Gold.
With Adekunle Gold singing in Yoruba on the track, as well as Ice Prince shouting out Jagaban on the boisterous reggae banger that follows, “Xcellent”, our Nigerian acts really bring our culture to the forefront of Walshy Fire’s tape.

Appearing on three songs, Ice Prince emerges as the most featured artist on ABENG, making his final appearance on “African Lady”, alongside Jay Newton and Vanessa Mdee. The track hosts three outstanding performances, emergin as one of the project’s most memorable tracks.
Boasting a range of genres, ABENG is fantastically diverse — whether it’s WurlD’s melodic lamentations on “Show You Off”, or the sensual pop record, “Amazing”. There is truly something for everyone on this tape, thanks to the indelible contributions from our African acts.
