President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday signed the 2019 Appropriation bill of N8.92 trillion into law.
The ceremony took place at the President’s office around 11 am. However, Buhari frowned at the increase of the budget submitted to the National Assembly with over N90 billion.
The two chambers of the National Assembly had last month passed the budget at N8.916 trillion, up from N8.826 trillion submitted by Mr. Buhari in December last year. The National Assembly added N90 billion.
Buhari lamented that the reduction of the budgetary allocations by the National Assembly would make it difficult for the government to implement its projects targeted at diversifying the economy.
He, however, noted that he would engage with the leadership of the Ninth Assembly whenever it emerges on the concerns of the executive on the budget.
The signing of the bill had in attendance, Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo, Udoma, the Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang.
Others are the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and Minister of Finance, Boss Mustapha.
